Student will learn the pros and cons of different grades of digital cameras, the proper file formats and resolution for print or web publishing, photo restoration, adjusting curves and levels, masks and filters. Also, hands on training with Adobe Photoshop CS4. Materials: An eight-gig minimum USB flash drive is required.

Explore the magic of this wonderfully spontaneous medium. Follow your desires in subject matter: landscapes; waterscapes; floral; still life; animal or human forms. Initial demonstrations and individual instruction are the hallmark of this course. Drawing, layout, and perspective aspects are emphasized. Beginners and experienced students are welcome. Supplies: w/c tube paint; large palette with at least 24 wells and a mixing area; Brushes: ¾” flat; 1 ½” flat bristle; #3 or #4 round; paper towels; #2 lead pencil; kneaded eraser; Coiled w/c pad of 140# paper (11x14” minimum size or larger loose sheets.) |

CAS has switched from earthenware to stoneware and now students can create work that is much stronger and can be used in the microwave, oven and dishwasher. These improvements coupled with Ayla’s expertise guarantee a wonderful and creative learning experience. Come join the fun – teens and adults!

This fun class is for ages 4-7 and will explore the world of hand-building pottery with clay. Jesse will teach students how to hand build their own dishes. The first week we will make clay stamps to decorate pots. If students would like to they can bring along things from home with interesting textures, toys etc. The next three lessons we will make slab and coil built dishes, including plates, bowls and mugs. The students will then be able to glaze their pots in the last two lessons. |

KIDS WHEEL THROWING CLAY CLASS

In this wheel thrown pottery class for ages 7-10, students will learn how to center the clay on the wheel and then form it into vases, mugs and bowls. We will also work on adding the finishing touches to the piece by trimming to form a foot ring and adding handles. The students will then be able to glaze their pots in the last two lessons. |

Student will learn how to break the human form down into manageable drawing areas. Techniques will be taught that point out the body’s structural highlights, thereby creating a grid that the artist can use to map out the anatomy. Traditional body part measurement techniques as well. A large sampling of life size images of models in 360 degree poses projected in classroom. Teens and adults are welcome. Materials: Large drawing pad and a good variety of drawing pencils. |

Even if you have never tried to draw a portrait on paper, now is the time to learn the easy methods for drawing human likenesses. Initially, charcoal and/or pastels will be used for fundamental portraits. The student may use his/her own photographs, or use our live portrait models. As lessons progress, a graduation to watercolor or oils may be accomplished. The instructor, an accomplished portraitist, will personally guide you all the way. The course will take you from start to finish. Beginners and experienced students are welcome. Supplies: Bring 11x14” sketch pad and charcoal or pastels first session. Other supplies will be discussed at first class.
