At this show, Nick Forte, building on ideas developed in his newest released albums, will present solo works in progress playing digital synthesizer and electric guitar. Forte uses melodic ambient drone, improvisation and industrial noise to create abstract soundscapes. With special guest NFS. Ear plugs suggested.
Nick Forte is a prolific experimental musician based in Livingston Manor, New York. His most recent album, "Primordial Forms", a selection of computer-generated compositions, was released by Amish Records in Brooklyn this spring. A limited cassette edition, "Over Does It", which intermingles synth, tape, and voice sources into scrupulously crafted vignettes was released this month by Los Angeles-based Obsolete Units. Forte has played in many bands over the last 25 years, including seminal hardcore outfit Rorschach, black metal/punk project Raspberry Bulbs, improvised-noise collectives Christmas Decorations and Hells Hills, among others, as a guitarist, composer, singer and/or multi instrumentalist.
GUITARFEST is a month-long festival of diverse musical stylings, presented by the Catskill Art Society. From blues to metal, country to jazz... if it features a guitar, you'll find it in store at GUITARFEST. This concert series is made possible in part with funding from a Sullivan County Arts & Heritage Grant funded by the Sullivan County Legislature and administered by Delaware Valley Arts Alliance.
