Art Materials Safety Roundtable

  • CAS Arts Center 48 Main Street Livingston Manor, NY 12758

Artists often work with materials that are hazardous or even toxic when handled incorrectly. Even common pigments, chemicals, and acids can pose a danger to human health and the environment. In this roundtable discussion, working artists will talk about their experiences with various materials, both traditional and innovative, answer questions, and point out useful information and best practices informed by modern science.

Featuring moderator Kalika Stern, artist and director of the Society for Folk Arts Preservation; Allen McMickle, painter and homeopathic consultant; Naomi Teppich, sculptor; Martin Springetti, painter and silkscreen artist; and Robin A. Dintiman, printmaker.
