Come to the Laundry King for the closing reception for Robert Parker: A Thing Is Itself from 4-8pm on Sunday, October 11. The exhibition will be up for public viewing on Thursdays - Saturdays 11am-6pm and Sundays 4-8pm starting September 12, with a special final date from 11am-6pm on Monday, October 12.
Robert Parker needs to be put out of his misery. In this work the chainsaw allowed him to cover a lot of ground, without employing the forces of the big forge and this show is the result! He's a formalist, but with a sly tinge of the anthropomorphic - what it appears he is looking at is less consequential than the depth of the work's structure and its inherent meaning. That the work engages and refuses to alienate is his fascination; his study informs tradition, and the language of sculpture itself.
