Join CAS at the Laundry King at 65 Main Street, Livingston Manor, NY for a special screening of the film Shakespeare in Love (1998), featuring a talkback with programmer Bradley Diuguid. 

A riff on the origins of Romeo and Juliet blending with rich real-life details with heart-warming fiction, Shakespeare in Love is the perfect fit for Valentine's Day weekend. A young William Shakespeare (Joseph Fiennes), out of ideas and short of cash, meets his ideal woman (Gwyneth Paltrow) and is inspired to write one of his most famous plays.

Noted classical stage and screen actors Geoffrey Rush, Tom WIlkinson, Antony Sher, and Simon Callow co-star. The film won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress for Gwyneth Paltrow, and Best Supporting Actress for Judi Dench in her star turn as Queen Elizabeth I.

Runtime: 123 minutes. This film is rated R. Contains brief nudity and adult situations. 

Presented as part of our “Year of Shakespeare” at CAS, a festival celebrating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s life with a year-long slate of live performances, films, and discussions.
